How to Style Ankle Boots All Year Round

Whenever you read “boot styles”, I bet one of your very first thoughts would be “the cold weather wardrobe staples”. However, you don’t need fall and winter to step into the boots season. Comfortable, stylish and versatile, ankle boots are a flattering wardrobe staple that would polish your outfits at all times of the year. While you probably own a fair number of ankle boots, why not just kick up your boots, and don’t fret about how you will wear them, because I’ve styled my black ankle boots in a number of ways. If you haven’t own a pair and are contemplating buying your first pair, keep reading!

1. Ankle Boots + Jeans

If you are new to ankle boots and you want a no-brainer combo. You can never go wrong with a pair of jeans. If you are the skinny jeans type of girl, tucked your skinnies in your booties to create that sleek and chic look. If you’re thinking of a boyfriend, bootcut or a pair of mom jeans (like what I’ve wore above), instead of tucking in, roll up your jeans slightly to showcase your boots better. Or you could opt for a pair with ankle crop. This combo can easily transform you from Spring to Winter depending on the colour you choose. For colder months, go for a darker palette (eg. black skinnies, black ankle boots), for Spring/ Summer months, opt a pair of fresh white jeans!

2. Ankle Boots + Mini Skirt

The perfect “leg for days” kind of look can be created easily when you simply team a pair of pointed toe ankle boots with a mini skirt. The pointed-toe silhouette instantly elongates your legs while the mini length of the skirt create that leg-lengthening drama. This is one of the combos I tend to go for when I want to look chic without trying hard. During summer time, I like to wear it with a white tee and carry a mini bag.

3. Ankle Boots + Midi Skirt

I’ve been really into midi skirts lately (especially those with a slit on the front, showing off your legs without really baring it all) and a pair of ankle boots is what you need to create that leg-lengthening drama in a subtle manner. For the look above, I teamed my black ankle boots with a black halter neck crop top, an army green denim midi skirt, and a mini bag.

4. Ankle Boots + Floral Print Dress

The juxtaposition of floral prints and ankle boots works really well, even during the colder months. They are like the perfect mixture of sweet and edgy and I like to call them the New Romantics. For colder months, I love to wear a dark floral print dress with a dark denim or leather jacket. And finish off the look with a black bag and a pair of black pointed-toe ankle boots.

5. Ankle Boots + Denim Jacket

The easiest way to transition into Spring or Fall is when you throw your ankle boots and a denim leather jacket on. For fall, I like to wear pieces in brown. Like a brown mock neck top. Instead of choosing a dark denim jacket, add a fresh touch to your fall outfit by wearing a white denim jacket.

6. Ankle Boots + Work Dress

Apart from these, one of my favourite ways in styling ankle boots is team it with a work dress. Work dress don’t need to be plain and dull. Simply add a polish and sophisticate touch when you throw a pair of pointed-toe ankle boots on. In my case, I like to wear it with a LBD and put on my favourite red lipstick.
