Check Please, How to Wear Check Prints

Check, please is going to be your favourite sentence to say especially when the colder months are approaching swiftly. Checks are having a huge moment since last year and it is going to be on the menu for a long while. There were sweet red and blue plaids at Alexander McQueen, beautiful bright shopper-bag checks at Mary Katrantzou, folksy ginghams at Loewe and a whole show of them at Fendi. Aside from runways, checks are literally everywhere on the high streets. You’ll find the check pattern popping up on shirts, pants, jackets and even dresses this season.

In this blogpost, I will be showing you how I style a check blazer, shorts, pants and skirt.

1.The Check Shorts

The first outfit, I called it the smart casual, which you could rock on the weekends, looking put together yet not too formal. For top, I opted a white ribbed knit mock neck sleeveless top. Then, I teamed it with a pair of check print high waisted paperbag shorts. I love how the wide belt with silver rings accent instantly adds a polish touch. And let’s talk about the shorts that hit on the perfect length. Not only they look more elegant than the usual shorts, they also make you look slender. For shoes, I slipped into a pair of black faux suede mules to complement the classy vibe. For bag, I carried a nude bucket bag. Lastly, I finished off the look with a pair of long earrings.

2.The Check Pants

Who says checks are too formal? Who says checks can’t be sporty? For the second outfit, I wanted something sporty and casual which I could wear in the plane, wear to classes or even grocery shopping. I opted a red graphic tee to complement my check print straight-leg pants with red and black stripes on the side. ***But, I’ve got to be honest, I’m not impressed by the excess cloth on the front, making the pants very baggy. Then, I slipped into my everyday staple, white sneakers. To finish off the sporty look, I tied my hair into a high ponytail.

3. The Check Skirt

If you’re the feminine type of girl, a check skirt would be perfect for you. This outfit would be perfect from 9 to 5 and beyond. Instead of opting a blouse, I opted a black graphic tee. I love how it adds a street style vibe to the look. For skirt, I wore a check midi skirt that gives off an elegant vibe. For bag, I carried a black leather crossbody with gold detailing. Lastly, I finished off the outfit with pair of gold earrings and a pair of black patent leather loafers.

4. The Check Blazer

Check blazer is not only meant for the office. You could still wear it on weekends, looking oh-so chic. I opted a simple white ribbed knit mock neck top to go with my zip-front denim mini skirt. Then, I wore a check blazer over it to gives off that vintage and classy vibes. Lastly, I finished off the look with a black leather crossbody and a pair of black pointed-toe flats.
